Our residents go for short trips and excursions at every available opportunity, but once a year there is a special annual trip scheduled for them. This year they went to Kiriat Motzkin, one of the towns in the vicinity of Haifa. Warm and sunny fall weather made a perfect setting for the trip.
Kiriat Motzkin has a beautiful park built about 12 years ago with lots of room for future development, and it has been expanding ever since. There are spaces with many trees and benches for the visitors to stroll and sit, enjoy the serene atmosphere and gentle breeze and beautiful views of a large pond with swans and other birds.
Our residents had a wonderful time walking through the park and the zoo. There are huge walk-in bird cages where they saw many colorful tropical birds just at arm's length. They enjoyed looking at everything the zoo has to offer, from zebras to penguins, but one animal in particular attracted a lot of attention and wanted to interact - a large orangutan, a recent addition to the zoo.
Johnny, our manager, accompanied the residents together with his wife Shoshana and the team of support staff. Even though Johnny regularly visits residents in the Home, he said the trip afforded him more time to spend with them in a more informal and relaxing atmosphere.
At the end of the trip the residents were treated to a sumptuous meal at the park's restaurant. The dishes were ordered in advance and came in XL sizes! Everyone chatted and had a great time at the table, and we must thank the restaurant staff for tasty food and wonderful service and respect they showed to our residents!
Everyone came back to the Home with their faces shining and happy smiles. That was truly a wonderful day out!
