Anna has been our resident for almost six years. She loves to cook and help our more frail residents to get fruit and veggies from the market. She is also the keeper of the library for the Russian-speaking residents and is very constant in our craft room - knitting and cross-stitching beautiful things. She has a whole gallery of her cross-stitched pictures framed and hanging in her room, and in winter our nurses wear warm vests that she knitted.
When free drawing lessons were offered to the residents, Anna was one of the many who came to take part. She started from simple pencil sketches and under the instruction of Jonathan went on to paint in watercolors and oils. Just look at how much progress she made! Anna was beaming when we took her picture for this post because she discovered a new ability at the age of 78 and she sees that she can do even more with it.
Her next challenge is to paint a wedding portrait of her granddaughter - from a photograph. And we are sure she is equal to the task! How wonderful to know that you can bud and flourish at any time of your life!
