Magda
Housemother - with all her heart, each and every moment
Magda has been working at the Ebenezer Home since 2012, and three of those years as the house mother. Her daily tasks are very diverse, like those of a mother ... ;)
She makes sure, the residents are well off, their rooms are furnished according to their needs, and if they have specific needs, she goes and shops for them. Another part of her daily work is domestic economics. Every week Magda meets with the kitchen staff to plan the menu, taking into account the diets of the individual residents. Magda also is the first person to contact about laundry and house cleaning. In short: She oversees everything related to the domestic economy. During the year, she organizes various feast celebrations for the residents in the Ebenezer Home or the adjacent garden. Magda is also in regular contact with suppliers, compares prices, and orders food.
The ambience at Ebenezer is very friendly. It feels like a second home to her, and Magda enjoys being at Ebenezer. She explains, "In my daily work, I experience how God gives me the strength, wisdom, and joy to accomplish all tasks. He brought me here. For me it's a privilege to serve Him and the residents here, and it's incredibly fun for me. I want to work for Him with all my heart, each and every moment."

"And even to your old age I
am He; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you." Isaiah 46:4
"Do not cast me away when I am old; do not forsake me when my strength is gone." Psalm 71:9
Our prayer at the Ebenezer Home is that we won't just care for the resident's physical needs, but also for their spiritual and emotional needs.
Each day begins with a word of prayer and scripture reading, along with singing. Following breakfast there are activities for the residents from basket weaving, art, embroidery, rug weaving, trips, physical therapy, concerts (given by the residents themselves) and much more.
Our residents understand that during these golden years, their work here on earth is not finished. Many may not have the strength to do what they used to, but they realize that they still have a very important job to accomplish...that of praying. You will find residents gathering together throughout the day to pray together. What a joy it is to see them continuing to faithfully give themselves to praying for everyone around them, including the next generation.
Are you a senior believer who is wondering what it is that God needs you doing? Maybe you find yourself unable to accomplish much physically, but my friend, please realize the greatest task set before you is something you can do even in your weakest physical state - that of a life dedicated to prayer! When you pray, you carry and lift up the hands of those carrying the physical load. We need you!! Your prayers carry us through. Please never under estimate the value of a life given to prayer!
